Earlier this summer, I was listening to a dauntingly thorough feat of podcasting about Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The episode clocked in at nearly seven hours, because a lot of animation history is crammed into that film. One of the things it pointed out is that even though Who Framed Roger Rabbit features most of the major players of classic animation, it does not feature Popeye. It had never occurred to me until hearing this that Popeye and his associates are the biggest back-in-the-day cartoon stars not to appear.
