David Lynch in Nintendo Land In a departure from the typical Singing Mountain episode, this one isn’t focused on video game music. There still is VGM, it’s just that the episode is more of a deep dive into a very niche subject: the popularity of Twin Peaks in Japan and its subsequent impact on two major Nintendo franchises. Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of David Lynch. I will explain it all out for you. @remix-riftx-rosseen: The music where Link visit’s the Dark World for the first time, and is accidentally turned into a rabbit, sounds like a spooky dirge.

@singingmountain: It was kinda inspired by the FF6 episode. To sum it up, A Link to The Past’s light world music is bright and cheery, where as the dark world is forboading and spooky sounding, the dark world overworld music also sounds more melancholic than the happy overworld theme in the light world.

@singingmountain: Thought that might me the case, Deadly Premonition seems to not only take so much from Twin Peaks, it even takes the “you either are entirely into this, or you just aren’t”. I didn’t play it myself but the lets play by Supergreatfriend is the most extensive and in depth playthrough of the game. But as you said, might not be your cup of tea and if so, oh well. =]

@aaron-jimenez-17: Will wrack my brain for another subject I can speak of in such depth

@remix-riftx-rosseen: Wait, that might be cool. Explain more what you mean?

@gameboydemakes: It helps that I don’t especially know much about Deadly Premonition nor do I find it all that interesting. But oh well.

An episode about Twink Peaks and video games and you choose to not talk about Deadly Premonition, you really like to challenge yourself! 😀

I think another cool explanation type episode would be the difference between the light world and the dark world from A Link To the Past.

Beachcombing from Mother 3 also sounded to me like that A.M. music in Animal Crossing

Woo! Seattle! Great work Drew! Your way of discussing a show’s influence on video games and one that I admittedly haven’t seen the entirety of is so that I am interested in giving the series another try. I would love more of these types of episodes.

Sick sounds you got!!! My Colleague would like your taste and I dig ur style, please post this track on his page? He has quite a big following who would LOVE this 🙂 www. facebook. com/AndityDJ just hit “LIKE” then post 😉
